Rare Vintage Saleman's Sample - 100% Original and Authentic
Years ago I obtained the sample cases of a Chicago Pennant Company salesman who sold pennants, decals, patches and other items to college stores from 1920 until he retired in the 1960s. All of the items were meticulously cared for and stored in cases away from light and humidity. You will not find one of these in better condition or with this kind of provenance.

This synopsis of the 1939 Mother Lode Basketball season comes from the Calaveras County Historical Society, Main Street, San Andreas, California:
"At Sonora the Red and Gold team took a thumping from the revengeful Sonoraites. The entire Calaveras squad was apparently off and found themselves on the short end of a 31 to 19 score. The Sonora B's won over the Calaveras B's by 20 to 1O. The Calaveras Redskins and the Sonora Wildcats met in a play-off game to decide the champions of the Mother Lode A Baskefball league, Southern Division. The Redskins came out on top with a score of 31 To 26. Peek played brilliantly for Calaveras while teammates Fields. Apley, Prowse and Dahl played inspired basketball. The Calaveras A cagers defeated lone in a nip-and-tuck battle To take the Mother Lode championship for the first time in the history of the school. The game was held on the lone court, which was packed with rabid rooters from both schools. The halt time score was 10 to 9 in Calaveras' favor. Neither team led the other by more than two points in the third and fourth quarters. With less than a minute to play, and the score tied 17 all, Carl Apley, Redskin forward, sank the winning basket 30 feet out. lone made a frantic attempt to score in the closing seconds, but to no avail for the gun sounded, leaving the Redskins on the long end of the 19 to 17 score. In the Calaveras gym the Redskins were defeated by Newman High 46 To 21. This game was played between the champions of the southern and central divisions of Northern California. The winner entered the C. l. F. finals for the small championship and Newman was victorious. In early season practice games Calaveras did well in both the A and B divisions winning the majority of their games. Galt, lone, St. Mary's, Sutter Creek, Linden and Schneider were the rival schools.
